Whatever wealth we don’t give away while living, is then given away through our will.
It is a joyful blessing to give and besides all “our” wealth came from God anyway.
While we are living God calls us however to “store up for yourselves treasures in heaven” by investing into His Kingdom some of the wealth he has blessed us with.
This is why Power to Change set up our Great Commission Foundation to receive either Bequests or Enduring Donations from individuals, foundations and corporations to make “treasures in heaven”. The Foundation is 100% owned by Power to Change and allows people to make bequests or sizeable donations (designated as either ‘capital preserved’ or for ‘immediate use’). The funds are allocated by the trustees to priority needs over time.
Sometimes windfalls come our way from assets sales or inheritances or investments, and we might wish to make a donation that endures beyond that moment in time.
Or we want to provide for Gods work beyond our lifetime, by making a bequest in our will.
If you would like to make a bequest or an enduring donation to Power to Change, then please contact us here or call our Bequests person on 03 9014 7584. We will send you an information pack on the Great Commission Foundation – Bequests and Enduring Donations, followed by a phonecall from us.
Will and Bequests
Most of us put off making a will, or updating our old one. It is not that scary however.
The Guide to Making a Will flowchart will help you decide if you need a new will, or whether your will is current enough to simply use a codicil to make a bequest. Codicils can be risky and some lawyers suggest it is better to do a new will.
Making a will involves forward planning, thinking about our estate and who to provide for when we are gone. To assist you with estate planning we have made available here a Guide to Estate Planning for Christians written by John Altman, an experienced wills lawyer from Platform Legal.
This same firm has also made a generous offer to assist friends of Power to Change to prepare a will for a fixed fee.
After the needs of our family are allowed for we may wish to make a bequest to Gods work, through organisations like Power to Change.
Our Great Commission Foundation is able to accept many types of donations and bequests including cash, property, shares, and even items that can be on sold. This includes fixed amounts or % gifts and we can help you or your solicitor word up the will bequest to meet your needs and to be legally valid. We most appreciate being sent notice of a bequest, for our records.
The Foundation enables you to safely invest in Gods kingdom by making:
- a Bequest in your Will (for the future) or
- an Enduring Donation (in the present).
